Yesterday is based on the 2019 romantic comedy directed by Danny Boyle, starring Himesh Patel and Lily James. Jack is a struggling musician forced to play tiny gigs while he pursues his dreams of stardom. But when he's hit by a bus, he wakes up in a world where nobody has heard of the Beatles - except for Jack himself. Taking advantage, Jack begins performing their songs, and quickly rises to fame by piggybacking off some of the greatest music the world forgot about.
The musical will be directed by Danny Boyle and written by Richard Curtis and Emma Freud (responsible for the original film). It has been 15 years since Boyle last directed for the stage, with the last time being the National Theatre production of Frankenstein. Fans of the movie will delight in re-experiencing it onstage for the first time ever, from the brilliant creative minds that conceived it the first time. Fans of the Beatles will love hearing the iconic songs, from 'Yesterday' to 'Hey Jude' to 'Yellow Submarine', performed live onstage by a talented cast of performers. Funny, moving, and inspiring, this new musical is not to be missed.
